Discover the Future with Bio Hazards!

The Bio Hazards! Club is a four-week, hands-on online after school program designed to introduce children aged 8-15 to the fascinating world of biotechnology genetics and life sciences. Through live tutor led sessions, interactive investigations, creative challenges and real world case studies. Students will explore how scientists use biology to solve global problems, improve healthcare and shape the future of our world. 

Each 90 minute session is delivered online in small groups by experienced tutors, giving every student the opportunity to ask questions, receive personalized support and develop their scientific thinking in a fun and engaging environment. Whether your child dreams of becoming a scientist, doctor, forensic investigator, or simply loves discovering how living things work, this programme will build confidence, curiosity, and critical thinking skills, no previous science experience required.


Course breakdown 

Week 1: What is Biotechnology?

Discover how biotechnology combines biology and technology to improve our lives. Students will explore how living organisms are used in medicine, agriculture, and environmental science while learning how biotechnology has shaped human history and continues to transform the future.

Week 2: DNA Detective Work

Explore the structure and function of DNA and discover how genetic information makes every living organism unique. Students will investigate how DNA is used in forensic science, criminal investigations and ancestry research through engaging problem solving activities. 

Week 3: Biotechnology in the Real World

Learn how biotechnology is changing industries around the world. Students will explore exciting careers in STEM, discover how scientists develop life changing innovations and challenge common misconceptions about working in science and technology.

Week 4: Future Bioengineering 

Imagine the future of biotechnology by designing creative solutions to real-world challenges. Students will explore topics such as genetic engineering, personalised medicine, sustainable food production, and synthetic biology while discussing the ethical responsibilities that come with scientific innovation.
